Celebrate Black History Month with Brough Brothers Distillery, Louisville’s First Black-Owned Distillery
February is the officially recognized Black History Month in the United States. It’s a time to celebrate the rich history of African Americans and their contributions to our country. This month, we are thrilled to kick off Black History Month by introducing you to Brough Brothers Distillery, Louisville’s first black-owned distillery. Stop by your nearest Cox’s or Evergreen Liquors for a bottle of Brough Brothers’ finest bourbon!
The History of Brough Brothers Distillery
Brough Brothers Distillery is the brainchild of brothers Victor, Bryson, and Chris Yarbrough. The three Louisville natives are the proud owners of the first—and only—African American-owned distillery in the city.
The brothers have been passionate about distilling for years, eventually deciding to start their own business. After months of hard work and dedication, they opened the Brough Brothers Distillery in 2020.
Since then, the brothers have been creating bourbon that has become a favorite for many. Their recipes are made with local ingredients and aged in charred oak barrels. They also constantly experiment with other spirits like gin and whiskey, and they plan to release more products in the future.
Brough Brothers’ Impact on Louisville
The Brough Brothers Distillery has already had a huge impact on Louisville. The brothers not only create amazing spirits, but they also provide jobs for the local community. The distillery has been a positive force for the city, helping to bring people together and creating a strong sense of fellowship.
The brothers use their platform to raise awareness about the importance of African American history and culture. They are passionate about giving back to their community and helping to make Louisville a better place.
It’s inspiring to see a black-owned business creating so much positivity in Louisville, particularly in the bourbon industry, and growing into something that will be around for generations to come. It’s a testament to the brothers’ hard work and dedication that they have been able to achieve such success in such a brief time.
