Cox's and Evergreen Liquors is a 100% employee-owned and operated retailer based in Louisville, KY. With 27 locations, we offer a full line of liquor, wine, beer, and tobacco products at everyday low prices. We service the Greater Louisville area which includes stores in La Grange, Shelbyville, Taylorsville, Mt. Washington, Bardstown, and Shepherdsville. Our Beginning

Billy Grantz and Tom Kupper opened the first Cox's Louisville in July 1995. Over the next 28 years, Cox's would grow to 27 Louisville area locations. Billy and Tom each have over 40 years experience in all aspects of running a successful retail business. Both started in 1980 working for a local family-owned drug store chain, Otto Drugs. Otto's was owned by theirs fathers Charlie Grantz and Irvin Kupper. Over the next 20 years, Billy and Tom were involved in all aspects of Otto Drugs. Otto's prided itself on being a local and family-owned business with great customer service. Charli and Irvin had 22 kids between both families so the business had to be successful to feed that many faces. In 1995, Billy and Tom opened their first Cox's Louisville carrying on the Grantz/Kupper Partnership. Cox's has changes over the past 28 years with more of a focus on liquor, wine, and beer.

In 2020, Billy and Tom decided to begin the retirement process. Their goal was always to ensure that their employees were taken care of by the future owners, and so they decided it was best to sell the company to their employees. Cox's and Evergreen Liquor became a 100% employee-owned and operated company.
