Are you a big wine drinker? You and everyone else! Depending on where you live, you might be hearing so many different perspectives on wine nutrition facts and whether or not you should be drinking it every day. In most European countries, drinking a glass or two of wine a day is considered healthy and is encouraged among the communities. In America, however, quite the opposite is occurring.

Here, we will break down the rumors and learn the real facts!

The History:

The recommended calorie intakes are around 2,000 calories a day. With that being said, red and white wine calories shouldn’t be too much of an issue if they are consumed lightly.

Red and White Wines do differ from each other because of the difference in the wine-making processes. The number of calories per glass also depends on your serving size. Due to these variables, it is hard to say exactly how many calories are in each glass.

A glass of Red Wine Nutrition Facts: Red wine will usually have five ounces in each serving with 150 calories.

A glass of White Wine Nutrition Facts: White wine is also usually served in five ounces but it has a calorie number of 148; slightly lower than red wine.

After many studies on the recommended daily consumption of wine, the National Institute of Health does caution people to only drink in moderation. One or two glasses of wine per day usually should not cause any harm to a healthy person. Consuming high doses of wine, however, is highly unrecommended.

According to Medical News Today, “Drinking red wine in moderation may have certain health benefits, including boosting heart, gut, and brain health. This is because it contains compounds with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and lipid-improving effects. Drinking alcohol is not safe for everyone, and drinking more than a moderate amount can cause serious health problems.”

You also will want to remember that wine bottles will not have these nutrient facts on the label, so you will have to do your own research to make sure you know all of the ingredients and nutrient facts before purchasing.
